Mohiniyattam is an Indian classical dance form from Kerala, known for its graceful, fluid movements and gentle expressions. It is a lasya dominant dance form. Mohiniyattam’s narratives often draw from Hindu mythology, depicting themes of love, devotion and devine play. The dancers wear traditional attire, including a white and gold sari. This art form is typically accompanied by Carnatic music. The musical instruments usually used in Mohiniyattam are Idakka( hour glass drum), flute, Veena, Kuzhithalam( cymbals) and either Mridangam or Madhalam ( types of drums).
Bharatanatyam is one of the oldest and most prominent classical dance form from Tamil Nadu. It is characterized by its fixed upper torso, intricate footwork, and expressive hand gestures. This traditional dance combines rhythmic dance patterns with storytelling. It often portrays scenes from Hindu mythology, focusing on devotion to deities, with emotional expressions playing a vital role in conveying the story. Performers wear traditional costumes, with distinctive jewelry and makeup, and it is accompanied by Carnatic music, typically performed by a live orchestra of musicians and singers.

My daughter is studying in the Nandanam dance school for past one year and we are extremely happy to be part of this school. Gayathri is a dedicated teacher who invests time to coach each students individually by knowing their pros & cons.
I have been learning Mohiniyattam from Mrs Gayatri for past two years. At my age of 60 , I was a bit apprehensive to start a new classical dance form. Mrs.Gayatri with her enthusiastic and motivational approach encouraged me all the way! She being a skilled professional and perfectionist saw to it that i gave my best through constant practice. She has been coaching me patiently with utmost sincerity and dedication. She is truly a multi talented knowledgeable Guru with the love for our Indian dance and music. She has been adding value to Germany s Indian diaspora by showcasing our Indian culture and teaching to the next generation.
Namaste, our daughter is a student of Nandanam school of dance from 2021. Her interest towards the classical dance is increasing day by day as the school has inspired her by knowledge and understanding of basics of the art.
I have always wanted to learn Bharathanatyam since childhood. However, it was quite challenging to find a nice teacher. I used to try other dance forms but there was a lack of satisfaction. I was the happiest when I got to know that Gayatri teaches dance in Germany. I loved the enthusiasm with which she teaches and the way she corrects the most minute details. She also makes sure to tell the history related to dance in bits in every class. She also tells me how some Adavus have changed overtime and how she had learnt it, so we know that it's not a mistake but a newer way of doing the Adavu. She makes sure that every posture that we stay in looks perfect and nothing less than that. I'm so glad that I started dance classes with her and looking forward to the next steps.
